Fiasco In Chicago

In my adventures as a "roadie" I run into a lot of crazy shit, like David Cassidy being propositioned by a house, or watching blow being cut up on road cases with a cop standing two feet away. But this one although not as funny as the two previously mentioned this one is a good one. It all started when Ninja Nate asked me if I wanted to go to the congress to see a show and sit back and learn how to run monitors for a national act. I said "why not(first mistake) what time do we leave" 6:30 am. So I get up shower get in the truck and I am off. We get there at 10 am(by the way I still have no clue on who the band is but the marquee said Insane Clown Posse) and ask the guy in charge of this soon to be complete mess who is preforming tonight and we get Lupe Fiasco. So we go behind the monitor counsel and Ninja Nate starts showing me shit five minutes later the guy in charge tells me he has a job for me all I have to do is help them take down there video wall then I am done. I said why not(mistake two). To keep this two hour fuck up short I won't tell you how this all works. But to start with we are told to unhook it in sections while we are doing this someone behind us is putting the sections back up twenty minutes later they finally decide to take it all down as a whole. Then as it is coming down we were putting it in the cases. After that we tear down the cabling, the counsel and load it in the truck(Somehow this took us two hours). Then as I am walking back to the monitor counsel I am told they need me to help them unpack the new video wall then I am done. Again I just went along with it a little more anoid though. Again to keep it short we bring in the pieces set the first row up and are told we did it the wrong way take it down and put it up the other way. Then we are told we fucked it up again because certain pieces had to go on certain sides. So we change them again finally the first row is done( these pieces we are switching are six feet by four feet and weigh twenty five pounds big but not heavy).Then row two goes up then they decide before row three goes up to test it. Half of the screen don't work but we put up row three anyway. So after sitting around for a while they decide to take down the side that doesn't work and slide the one that does over. While we are doing this they let the people in(this all took seven and a half hours). We are done thirty minutes to show time. 8 pm show time and to kick it off a video is supposed to play before Lupe comes out, five minutes no video, ten minutes no video, fifteen minutes no video, now Lupe is fucking raging mad. Finally the video pops up but the voice to it sounds like the chipmunks then it slows way down then fixes. The show starts no problems till the middle which the video at the bottom shows. Show ends help load out then the guy in charge does not want to pay me for my work because I was not supposed to be there. But Ninja Nate squares that up for me. When I get back home it is 6:30 am. So in the end Lupe Fiasco's show was a fiasco.
